Although, to be quite honest, I don't think I've ever been inside of a Russel Stover's store, whether its in Kansas, Missouri, Texas, or Indonesia...
why bother when you can get the candy at every local drug store? do they even make their own ice cream?

Back in the days of yore (1950's & 1960's), Russell Stovers had really good candy.  They had a store on the Plaza that I always stopped at when shopping in the long-gone local department stores.  Their stores were faced with some kind of shiny purple surface.  Now it's just corporate candy.  I mean, they own Whitman's - yuck.

That makes it seem a little less like an anachronism.

Fairway gets a new candy store
With shelves stacked with a wide variety of candy, fresh baked cookies and muffins, pumpkin bread, fudge, caramel and cinnamon apples, chocolate-dipped strawberries and Blue Bell ice cream, it would be easy to get carried away.

But this candy store also offers Weight Watchers' goodies just in case, along with low-carb items, Halloween - and football-themed candies, and gift baskets and boxes.

Had a chance to stop by. It seems nice I suppose. Lots of gift-store candy and Russell Stover products, but they also have big bins of candy and bubble gum. There is also a nice counter of (fresh?) brownies, cookies, fudge and muffins, as well as an ice cream counter. They also have a number of indoors and outdoor seats, inviting you to stick around and linger.

I was surprised it was fairly packed in there around lunch time, lots of people nibbling on sweets. Definitely better than what I was expecting.

What exactly were you expecting?

These people (as this area being the even blander version of Brookside) have nothing else to do, but eat cupcakes and attend prayer vigils for murdered white girls. Candy and muffins ARE their daily reality.

You're so edgy. You are hereby awarded 5 internet tough guy points. Now run back to the mean streets of Lawrence, KS.
If it doesn't have street-level retail, it's an abortion.
