I wanna' live in the Northland ...

Post by Cyburbia »

... but, damnit, I'd have the Commute from Hell. I work in beautiful downtown Olathe.

Why live north? Cheap, cheap, cheap real estate; close to downtown; not too far from the Plaza; nice landscape; and it's rapidly losing its "geographically undesirable" label among single professionals.

Did I mention cheap, cheap, cheap real estate? $150K will get me a nice, decent new house up north. In JoCo, $150K will get me a shopworn three bedroom, one and a half bathroom house, probably without a basement.

The only place where a commute is doable seems to be Parkville. I think.

You can commute from the Parkville, PlatteWoods I-29 corridor to Olathe in well under 30 minutes via 635. But think, you will have hills, cliffs, views of the city, trees, lakes to drive by and you will be on the "right" side of state line :). Plus the cost difference on a house will save you still far more even with added commut expences.

Think again, you can have all that in Western Olathe, Western Lenexa, Western Shawnee or DeSoto...forget the views of the city...you'll have spectacular views of the Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant

My fiance and I are still looking up north as well. We've been looking now for about 2 months and made the mistake of not getting prequalified before looking. We bid on two houses off I-29 and 72nd st and they both had contracts put on them within 4 hours of being listed. We've now gone to Cap Fed and we're ready. Can't decide if we want a new house or something in the 5-10 year old range.

Well my fiance is also pregnant and we're living in a 1 bedroom with a study and that thing is so drafty that you may as well be sitting on the deck. Keep in mind this is the Claremont I'm talking about which were only build about 3 years ago tops. Typical crap. I'm glad we're purchasing soon because of the rates. Start cracking that whip KC.

Yea i guess I am as well since my fiance is already pregnant. Oh well it looks like plenty of babysitting and chatting on the net in the future.
