why doesn't ZR have a hotel yet?
I rather see condos over there, would create a nice customer base for the area.

I'll have to admit. It seems Legends is losing ground to Zona Rosa tenant wise. Design wise every one I know who has been to both hates the way they designed Zona Rosa almost as much as they hate the name Zona Rosa.

Legends better get that Coach outlet open soon.........

:)

Charming Charlies has opened. Not that I have any desire to buy women's accessories, my wife says its fancy inside but a little pricey.
Seems like a good fit for ZR.
Also, the Children's frog fountain seemed to be very popular with Yogurtini opening. I was there tonight, and the place was packed.
I can't wait for all the other restaurants to open in the 'Dillards District'.

Also Things Remembered is finally moving from Metro North to ZR. They are taking part of the former AF store.

Toys or Us Express has been open a month or so.

Even when I left the movie, an employee held open the door for us. He said, 'how was the movie sir?' I didn't expect that. Real nice.
With ticket prices cheaper than AMC, and no food or drink minimums, I plan to go here often.
they're closed, figured it was only a matter of time

I am so mad they closed! It was awesome.
Damn. I am so sick of this economy. ZR is doing fairly well, but the site just can't get a break.
They remodeled and rebuilt that entire corner!!!

Amazing that TWO movie complexes in nearly the same space can't make it. Out south in Overland Park, another "dinner and a movie" operation, Gold Class Cinemas, was planned at 135th and Metcalf (Corbin Park). But since that project is stalled (again), who knows if it will ever be built. Seems like these hybird theaters take a lot of expertise to do right.

i think all the SMGs in DFW are open. strange the one in KC flopped so bad. people on Yelp that got free tickets were even trashing it.

According to some employees at Studio Movie Grill, Corporate just came in and took everything over the weekend. They were literally in direct competition with Barrywoods AMC. Pretty much both of the theaters have to bid on the movies they will show. SMG had a very hard time getting the "better" movies. They had to negotiate to even get movies like "Predators" and "Machete"

I guess it's all confirmed in the KC Star, AMC so close pretty much ended SMG:

In other news, Zona Rosa is getting a Buffalo Wild Wings. It's in a new building going behind CVS and Men's Warehouse.

That probably will be a factor at the proposed Gold Class Cinema complex at Corbin Park - since Dickinson Theaters' Palazzo 16 is less than a mile away. Although 16 screens is a lot less competition than 24.

nah, that one will open and do ok.  I think northlanders are more likely to go downtown to the mainstreet amc for such an experience.  That probably does as much damage as the amc 24 across the freeway.  People out south of 135th are not going to the mainstreet amc.  For one it's 2-3 times the drive than it is from most northlanders, for two, they are just very disconnected from urban kcmo out there.
