New Restaurants/Other Businesses in Northland

I just joined the forum but I thought it would be helpful to start a thread for new restaurants or other consumer type (gas stations) businesses in the northland.

1) There is a new Burger King going in the parking lot of Lowes on Ambassador.
2) There is potentially a new gas station going in at Brighton and 152 by the movie theater. They have cleared off a patch of land and there is 3 large gas storage units placed on the land.
3) The Rim is a new restaurant over by the "Liberty" Chipotle. They have grilled stuff and smoothies.
4) Sprouts by Liberty and in Parkville...this has been covered in another thread.
5) Chick-fil-a by the Hooters on Barry.

Feel free to post any other new businesses you guys see.

yeah, that you just managed to include Independence in the northland validates what I said.

Yes, the Northland would be defined as Clay and Platte counties within the metro area.

Dunkin Donuts on Antioch in the Meadowbrook shopping center in Gladstone.
Popeyes demo and rebuild new concept next door.

Teds Mexican restaurant behind Cheddars.

What are the noteworthy second hand/thrift stores?
I recommend the thrift on 4123 North Oak, Northland Thrift.
Small and has a selection of new/off the truck stuff as well.
In Northmoor, Animals in Need Thrift is excellent. 2520 NW Vivion.
Goodwill and DAV are both overpriced.

I just realized that statement is more inane. Falls at Crackerneck Creek is *south* of I-70.

I have no idea about Falls at Crackerneck Creek (Who came up with that name?!?), but have to say that my husband does this, too. He considers anything north of I-70 to be "Northland" (We've only been here for 5 years, but you'd think he would get it by now.). I just roll my eyes at him...

It's where the Bass Pro is in Independence. It was supposed to be a huge development but flopped pretty badly.

I asked a prominent local developer once how they came up with the names of their apartments and strip centers (not Falls at Crackerneck, as far as I know). He told me they take them from successful developments in other cities. This should reinforce your opinion that real estate developers are a creative bunch.

It may have been the same person that once told me that his most original ideas for developments were borrowed from other successful developers.

Is the Teds Mexican you refer to known as Ted's Cafe Escondido out of Oklahoma?

Yes that's the name but searching for it doesn't show anything in the Northland.

I found an article where one is going in Overland Park so I guess them putting on up in the northland seems reasonable.

The rumor is that the gas station going in at 152 and Brighton is going to be "The Station" like the one in Parkville. Not sure if it is going to be able to be as big as the one in Parkville though.

I would have preferred a Quiktrip. Seems around here anyone who isn't a QT turns into a dumpy c-store eventually because no one ever goes there.

Also, Riverside's QT is getting a new location across the street. I believe this will be their third move at that intersection. I would say it is probably the busiest QT I've ever seen around KC. Most days you can't even find a space to park and routinely there are lines waiting for pumps. The new location is the new style and appears to be a bit larger and hopefully will have more parking and other space for cars to get around. When I need gas during the day over a lunch break I sometimes drive by there and take a pass and drive over to the Englewood location. Yeah, it can be that crazy busy.
