70K. that's roughly twice the size of Shoal Creek so far.A public-private partnership involving Kansas City, the KCI Corridor Tax Increment Financing Plan, Hunt Midwest and MD Management is financing construction of sanitary sewers in the First and Second Creek Watershed north of Barry Road. The construction, which began this year, will allow development of about 15,000 acres, which will lead to the addition of 21,000 homes and 70,000 residents, Hayes said.

If they can get that development going, that would certainly help with keeping the Metro North Mall going once its redeveloped.

you actually can tell where people move to based on school demographicsaknowledgeableperson wrote:Plus shift more of the city's population to the north of the river.
like factually it was largely black families that left east KC. the most multicultural HS north of the river is NKC HS by a long shot. they put class photos online and I eyeball figured it was only 50% white. that's more racially mixed than parts of the KCMSD
so the south of the river population didn't move to the area around staley, they made one jump outwards (based on the idea that the city has grown one ring at a time) and if they move up it will be another jump
granted, the urban housing changes are upsetting this pattern but it doesn't make it less correct today.
