the segment just west of I-29 is a mess of lights with three of them in a small area (though it's no 152 at I-35).
the city is heading towards combining two intersections to help with this. this area is already one of the best areas for pedestrian access in KC as it has dedicated bike lanes along the corridor, and the removal of one light will help here
I didn't catch the exact details but this looks to be a NW Praire View relocation to line up on the other side of hyvee
it would send through traffic by the retail areas at this intersection, improving visibility of existing retail areas
the comment I liked in the committee video is the land owners in the area all don't like each other.
NW 64th St redo

yes, many get localized, this area works long-distancesmh wrote:flyingember wrote:this area is already one of the best areas for pedestrian access in KC as it has dedicated bike lanes along the corridor, and the removal of one light will help here
one of the longest set of bike lanes in the city goes from north of Zona Rosa to just north of this corridor, this is in the middle of a residential area
one of the longest continuous bike trails in the city stretches almost 3 miles E-W. it connects residential into commercial areas and it bridges an interstate and connects to another bike corridor in a *residential district*, which is very rare to find in KC period, this has a brief sidewalk segment and then connects to the Line Creek network
it's at one of the few true mixed use developments in the city at Burlington Creek
it has bus service into downtown
about all it's missing is local bus service
Re: NW 64th St redo
This has been a plan for years, is it finally going to happen? Like with actual projected dates and everything?

it still has to pass the whole council, but a vote means something is moving alongshaffe wrote:This has been a plan for years, is it finally going to happen? Like with actual projected dates and everything?

Re: NW 64th St redo
It might have good bike facilities for a suburban area, and might have an isolated mixed-use-ish development that's at least trying, but it's still horribly spread out, almost exclusively car-oriented and surrounded by dead-octopus subdivisions. Don't forget that NW 64th is also a MoDOT-controlled STROAD.
That said, it might very well be that this area evolves into something better than typical sprawl thanks to these first steps. That'd be nice, given that it's closer to downtown than other similar developments. It's definitely making a better effort and doing a better job than most of the rest of the Northland.

the northland is very trail driven. Safe biking facilities could help drive changes in the northland as much as anything.Eon Blue wrote:It might have good bike facilities for a suburban area, and might have an isolated mixed-use-ish development that's at least trying, but it's still horribly spread out, almost exclusively car-oriented and surrounded by dead-octopus subdivisions. I figured out the ordinance is for purchasing the row. A key step.shaffe wrote:This has been a plan for years, is it finally going to happen? Like with actual projected dates and everything?
