Re: Adams Dairy Landing Shopping Center in Blue Springs
It seems like Best Buy there would be too close to the one by Indep Center, but Adams Dairy is 8 miles from 470. I forget how far east Adams Dairy is.
You would think that there is enough population to support this and all the stuff by Indep Center along with what's going up in Lee's Summit. I hope so. I would hate to see the Independence Center area begin to struggle.

I am watching the girlfriend shop at Indep Ctr right now and it is busier than hell. I can't move anywhere. No immediate sign of suffering.

Blue Springs approves bonds to help shopping center developer
The City Council voted 4-2 to issue the special obligation bonds for Adams Dairy Landing...
The city will issue approximately $16.8 million in bonds, generating about $14.4 million for RED Development. The money will reimburse the developer for infrastructure improvements at Adams Dairy Landing, a new 65-acre open-air shopping area just south of Interstate 70 and Adams Dairy Parkway.

Olive Garden has opened.

Coming soon ...
Kohl’s plans to open its Blue Springs store, at Adams Dairy Landing, in September. Also, Staples, the office supplies company, has a “coming soon” sign hanging on the shopping center’s monument sign out by Interstate 70. The company confirms that it plans to open by November.
... not coming soon
Yes, I know, as a business journalist I’m not supposed to pick winners and losers in the marketplace. That’s the job of local and state governments.
So I try to stay objective about these things and, in sports terms, I have no rooting interest. OK, I prefer Coke to Pepsi, and I’m really glad my hometown has a Barnes & Noble, but basically I’m able to stay above the fray.
But still ...
No, it’s not true that I born in one of the boats at Bass Pro Shops, in the Cabela’s fly shop or in the camping department at Dick’s Sporting Goods, but that would fit. I like those places. So the other day when I was at a family get-together two states away and a fourth cousin twice removed said his kid works for Gander Mountain, my ears perked up. Yup, he said, they’re adding 14 stores.
Really?, I said, making a mental note to check that out.
Gander Mountain, based in Greenville, N.C., claims to have the largest chain of outdoors stores, 119 of them in the East and Midwest. It sort of has Kansas City surrounded – Wichita; suburban Little Rock; Peoria, a couple in Iowa – but not one store in the Kansas City area.
Could it be? Alas. No plans at this time, the company says. Oh well. I’m not rooting one way or the other, and it never hurts to ask.

Hey, Blue Springs shoppers!
You want a T.J. Maxx? Ulta Beauty? Ross Dress for Less?
These were most of the names a RED Development spokesperson announced to Blue Springs City Council Tuesday night as part of an Adams Dairy Landing project update.
It’s been about a year since Julie Jurden, vice president of development for RED, gave the council an update about the ambitious retail center, located along Adams Dairy Parkway and Interstate 70.
Jurden said she’s been pleased with the success RED’s leasing group has had in securing leases during a difficult economy.
Some highlights of the presentation:
* Chick-fil-A is scheduled to open in early summer.
* Verizon Wireless is scheduled to open in February or March.
* Arby’s will open in the fall.
* Michael’s will open on Feb. 4.
* Ulta Beauty, a popular cosmetics store, will open in the building that was initially constructed for Books-A-Million.
“Books-A-Million came with a couple of thoughts, but we decided to go in a different direction,” Jurden said, adding that revenue estimates for the cosmetic business were significantly higher than a bookstore.
* Ross Dress for Less, T.J. Maxx/HomeGoods meaning TJMAXX and More will locate in the building that was originally going to be Lowe’s.
While it’s not certain at this point, Jurden said RED is deciding on other leasing tenants for the building, including a toy store, sporting goods stores and other stores.
* Charming Charlie, a women’s fashion accessory store, will also open at an unknown time in the complex. Jurden said the Lee’s Summit location has proven quite popular.
Several stores have already opened at the complex, including Target, Gordmans, Kohl’s, Staples, Petco, Olive Garden and Chipotle.
Mayor Carson Ross thanked Jurden for the update and for letting “the public know we’re not asleep on this thing.”

Re: Adams Dairy Landing Shopping Center in Blue Springs
How is Noland Road looking these days? Half of those stores should have opened in that brand new vacant shopping center Little Blue and I-70 first.

In many places something is better than nothing. At least it should be a rent-paying tenant. Long lasting? What might it evolve into? Who knows. Is the place loaded with similiar type of tenants? Nope.
