What a great Kansas City company with a huge commitment to KCMO. Hate to see the old synagogue torn down but, realistically, who is going to put that building to use that isn't a nonprofit?

How close would the proposed light rail expansion get to this? 85th and Oak? Can rail be run on a BLVD?
Location seam like the sweet spot between the golden ghetto and downtown.

Some might think another missed opportunity for downtown but they already have a large office near there. B&M is consistently in top 10 for job openings in KC, along with Cerner. And mostly higher income jobs.

They just sunk a huge amount of money last year into remodeling the old Marion HQ. This is on the adjacent lot. No chance of them making a move downtown in the next couple of decades.earthling wrote:Some might think another missed opportunity for downtown but they already have a large office near there. at least it's easier to get to for Lee's Summit and Belton residents than JoCo. that's a benefit to this siteshinatoo wrote:They just sunk a huge amount of money last year into remodeling the old Marion HQ. Brookside is a boulevard. So is Grand downtown. I'd think that answers that questionshinatoo wrote:What a great Kansas City company with a huge commitment to KCMO. Hate to see the old synagogue torn down but, realistically, who is going to put that building to use that isn't a nonprofit?

looks like it's a couple miles from 85th/Wornall to Wornall and Ward Parkway.

Given this project plus the Cerner project both are a good shot-in-the-arm for South KC. Would love to see more development at the 435 & Holmes area.
There was also talk at one time of extending Ward Parkway from Wornall to Bannister and Holmes. Maybe revived at some point in the future? The church property south of Bannister from this B&M project may also be open for development since it is now a satellite facility after the main congregation moved to JoCo.

From an architecture standpoint I'm sorry to see that old synagogue come down. But I understand that it probably had limited reuse potential. And it was built in a ditch.
The congregation that left that building left the synagogue at 34th and Paseo before that.

Correction: That would be Beth Tulsa. I got thrown out of Hebrew school for stealing her panties.loftguy wrote:B'nai TulsaEon Blue wrote:Next stop, Spring Hill!chaglang wrote:The congregation that left that building left the synagogue at 34th and Paseo before that.
