Can we dissect that PDF for a few minutes? I know these guys are doing good things at Ward Parkway Center, but this just seems a little far-fetched.
The Marketplace will be the region’s only power center and a highly visible and accessible, premier shopping destination when it is completed. It will feature a major brand grocery, specialty stores, apparel shops, pet supplies, arts and crafts, and new restaurants. Serving a trade area of 173,000, in a dense market, the new Truman’s Marketplace will be a prime addition to a growing region
Is this how you say "the retail market is over-saturated but we're still doing this because this is the only thing we know how to do" ?
Well-positioned for convenience
•Located in the southern quadrant of Kansas City, within 12 miles of Lee’s Summit, MO
12 miles = convenient.
“This accessible retail power center is just six miles from Belton, nine miles from Raymore, eight miles from 135th and State Line and 12 miles from 119th and Roe.
Because people are TOTES going to drive from south OP to Grandview!
The Veteran’s Memorial Plaza will be dedicated to the members of all US Armed Forces and will attract tourists and the local community to celebrate, learn about and reflect on U.S. freedom and history
Will it, now?

The aerial view and site plan also have quite a few differences. Which one are they going with?

Having grown up in Grandview back in the 70s and 80s, and watching its slow decline, it's great to see new life coming to a shopping area that's been an eyesore for years. Sam's Club will be vacating soon, the current empty storefronts will never attract anything significant. Time to tear it down and start over. I'm excited about this project! I hope it's a reality!

I've noticed that again and again with these kinds of projects (Corbin Park being a prime example). The drawings make it look fairly upscale, but I don't think that is what they need there.

And yeah, in what universe is someone who lives near 119th and Roe going to drive to GRANDVIEW to do any shopping?

Generally speaking no one. This will not be a destination center. But if the center does land an unique shop or two, then it could become a destination type of place. Don't see that happening but strange things do happen here and there.

I am unaware of SAMS Club going anywhere. It's a busy store/location and the only warehouse club in that region.

Sam's is moving to Raymore. Already under construction. Should open near the end of October.

Obviously nobody, but I'm hoping that Grandview shoppers will stick around instead of having to travel there, Raymore, or Lee's Summit to do some of their shopping. I hope to see some decent box retailors open up there..perhaps a Target, Gordman's, or a TJ Maxx. I also think a Movie theater should go in there somewhere.

It seemed for awhile that it was rumored Sam's Club would be shutting down in Grandview, due to a new (and bigger) one being built in Raymore. Hopefully it stays there.

It will be good for the city of Grandview if and when this development gets underway. Let go of Sam's, tear ot all down, and get some real tenents.

Also former Kmart redevelopment could happen.

^^^^^^^ Would love to see the former K-Mart site redeveloped. They need another grocery store. Price Chopper shouldn't be the only store in Grandview. Hy-Vee, Aldi, Sun Fresh, etc, could easily take over that whole area.
