Wow, more parking than retail square footage? I thought this suburban strip mall model was dead. Would really like to see LS get on board with a new urbanism or similar style. But people like to have plenty of parking I guess.

Still good to see any type of retail go up at this point. Seeing other areas around town that were dormant for a long time start to see some activity, so thats good.

Discount fashion retailers, along with several large format tenants are interested.

Northeast Kansas City: Whitehall Station, a planned “power center” on the Interstate 35 corridor in Liberty, was shelved several years ago but has now been revived. Several large format discount fashion tenants and other retailers are interested.


Northwest Kansas City: Ross Dress for Less is scheduled to take the former Stein Mart space in BarryWoods Crossing. Brokers for the center could not confirm the lease but sign is up.

In the Oak Park Mall area, Staples, Ulta Beauty, and Ross Dress for Less are scheduled to open on the former Stein Mart site. A former Hy-Vee supermarket at 6801 W. 91st St, which closed in late 2012, is one of the last remaining large format tenant opportunities in that market, the report said.
