The Kansas City Area Transportation Authority wants to link the hopping 18th & Vine Jazz District with the Crossroads Arts District with new development along 18th Street. KCATA is seeking proposals to develop a vacant two-acre property at the northeast corner of 18th and Troost Avenue.
Hopping? Really? It's apparent no one at the Business Journal actually goes to 18th and Vine.

We were down there for the Charlie Parker celebration last year with Chuck Haddix as he led a tour of the buildings in the area.

I deliberately did not stand in front of that brick wall.

The owner of the building is apparently trying to pass the collapse off as an intentional part of the renovation process.

New upscale Steak and Oyster restaurant featuring live jazz coming soon.
The chef/owner is a fantastic restaurateur and supporter of the arts.

I wonder why they put some of these things over there. Many things in that area fail and close soon after opening. I think these places would be better in safer areas like the Plaza.

Is this restaurant going to be in the 18th & Vine district or Smithville? I read somewhere she was opening this or a similar restaurant in Smithville.

This is her new venture, more upscale.

Vandals cause serious flood damage at Buck O’Neil Education and Research Center in KC (Former Paseo YMCA)
The new Buck O'Neil Education and Research Center was hit by vandals Friday, causing serious damage.

Police say around 11 a.m. Friday an alarm went off. They said someone broke into the historic, multi-purpose center and cut a water pipe on the second floor. It caused extensive flooding to the first floor and basement. See footage of the damage in the video above.

wonder what inspirational words the late GREAT John "Buck" O'Neil would have for us after this tragedy. I don't know but, I imagine something like this: Good will always conquer evil, and, maybe this evil can be made good again too..........................Uh huh ! He always inspires me!

How do you connect the Crossroads to 18th and Vine? KC agency looks for ideas
The Kansas City Area Transportation Authority issued a request for proposals, or RFP, that closed Monday to gauge firms' interest in redeveloping some — or maybe all — of the agency's land near Troost Avenue and 18th Street, about halfway between the east reaches of the Crossroads Arts District and the historic 18th and Vine Jazz District.
