Brick apartments at 4529-31 Broadway.

Post by FangKC »

Does anyone else think the brick apartment building at 4529-31 Broadway is leaning, or has sunk a bit?

I was sitting on Broadway waiting for cars to advance through the stop sign, and it appeared to me it is.

You can see there has been quite a lot of fracturing of the brick that's been repaired.

I don't expect to see those apartments standing for too much longer. That whole area is changing fast.

I'll bet they were built on fill dirt that had not been allowed to settle long enough before constructing them. That is what happened with Chouteau Courts on Independence Avenue at Tracy. The foundations started to fail, and the building facades cracked.
