A seasoned traveler work visitor stayed at Hotel Sorella last week and left impressed on every level. I heard they had opening pains with service at first but are now top notch. The tripadvisor posters from around the world seem to like it (recent posts), but did have some rougher reviews when first opened....

If they change hands its very possible it re-flags as a Marriott or Hilton branded hotel.

The potential acquiring hotel management is Davidson Hotels and Resorts, the company runs many branded (non-indie) hotels. A few appear indie but for the most part you may be right that it could change flags to a major brand. Would be unfortunate as KC doesn't have a lot of indie hotels. Well Sorella is semi-indie anyway.

Worry more if the new owner lets the hotel become junky more than the name on the outside.

Yeah, if there's a hotel in town that you need to worry about becoming junky...

As I drove by today, I noticed the signage has changed. It is now called The Fontaine.
