They are flying on the Raising Cane's Chicken Finger building. I think they will beat Qdoba to open. The Qdoba has been sitting there for weeks with no activity.
Re: Westport's fate post-P&L
Until more residential is added in Westport, then asinine places like qdoba will continue to sit empty...and that chicken shack is an abomination. That would have been a great parcel for residential development, but what do I know? I just live in the area.
Re: Westport's fate post-P&L
Someone needs to replace that nasty Old Westport complex near Sonic - that place is horrible.

Re: Westport's fate post-P&L
Yeah, have mentioned many times in this thread the ratio of Westport restaurants to nearby workers/residents is getting too high. The bars/eats do fine on weekends but on weekdays/nights only the popular places are busy (Beer Kitchen, McCoys, CharBar, etc). Westport is prime for more residential yet no developers taking action. Agree that the Verizon retail spot should've been residential and/or hotel, and the lot now Qdoba should've been retail below, large garage with office and/or residential above. Too many lost Westport opportunities because not enough big money developers biting.atticus23 wrote:Until more residential is added in Westport, then asinine places like qdoba will continue to sit empty...and that chicken shack is an abomination. If there are too many restaurants, the market will fix it pretty quick. I, for one, am happy to see growth, investment and development of any kind in the area, as I live there too.atticus23 wrote:Until more residential is added in Westport, then asinine places like qdoba will continue to sit empty...and that chicken shack is an abomination. That is an odd location for a hotel. I would have rather seen the proposed apartments built, but I will take this over nothing.

Re: Westport's fate post-P&L
Man, Marriott has a monopoly in this area, i think this is like the 14th or 15th Marriott now from Briarcliff to the Plaza. I'd rather have something more hip, like an Aloft, Hyatt Centric or Hotel Indigo to compete with the AC Hotel down the street. I'm not a fan of Townplace Suites, kind of like a nicer extended stay hotel that look like crappy suburban apartments.
Re: Westport's fate post-P&L
If incentives are granted, the city (and by that I mean the neighborhood association) should demand design that they feel works with the area. Maybe the Westport-Plaza Neighborhood Plan will hold some clout?
Agree with brewcrew1000 - an Aloft would be a great option for that location.
