Infill of empty lot along streetcar line! Nice, though for being right in front of a streetcar stop it could go quite a bit taller and possibly get by with little parking available. Maybe, KC maybe not ready for that yet.

Both sides of the street if that last rendering is correct.

The other interesting nugget, in the flyer it specifically talks about the abundance of parking which will be accessible by this site.

while I do appreciate the attempt at infill, I do not like the fact that it is so far away from the sidewalk and that parking lot has to move. But hey, if they don't ask for incentives we can't complain too much. It's much, much better than a parking lot.

there's still codes. there's still building it the right way to produce a project that people care about in 25, 50, 75 years. To not tear down what's already there in laziness.

The city is not beholden to support the profits of a company or individual.

I'm puzzled how this building got historic designation (and historic tax credits) without being 50 years old (built in 1973).

There's a lot to be curious about with this plan.....

A lot seems funky about this project but I'm willing to turn a blind eye just to get something going on in the north loop.

Flashcubes were introduced by Kodak in the late '60s, well over 50 years ago. Before that, flashbulbs were single use (and also required slower shutterspeeds). By granting historic designation to this iconic structure, the National Parks Service acknowledges the building's rich historic symbolism and declares that it is not a bulb and therefore is a good candidate for reuse.

Now, everyone, please say "Cheese!"

project is still happening, i'm told. guess they're just slow. the weeds have been cut back on main, likely in response to repeated 311 calls.

i just drove by about 20 minutes ago and there were a few trucks outside and guys who looked like they could be the architects and foremen outside pointing and talking out the plans.

I still wish that place was gonna be torn down. I'm all for saving buildings, but this one is not worth it IMO. It's so ugly & has a terrible relationship with the street.
