They used to burn coal for the boilers. Anyone know how they do it now?

Natural Gas Boilers are what have been used in all of the Central Utilities Plants that I have worked on. I can almost guarantee that is what’s being used here.

I believe the electric generation portion of the plant also switched over to natural gas recently.

I sincerely hope we don't put a ballpark in that corner of the loop. Great for tourists, bad for the burgeoning # of surrounding residents.

So there's no new activity at this site? Just utility work unrelated to the renovation?

I can confirm there is at least some activity in the building. There is a dumpster on-site and workers filtering in-and-out the front door. Work still seems to be minimal, though. This is completely unrelated to the sewer work going on behind the building.

Makes sense. The Veolia plant produces both steam and chilled water for heating/cooling.

The article is very informative on how the plant works, how they add new lines, and how they add new customers. Worth the read if you are curious about that stuff but don't want a technical paper.

A resolution for issuing bonds for this project is on the PIEA agenda this week. Perhaps work will start for real on this project soon.
Issuance of taxable industrial revenue bonds for the 720 Main-Flashcube Project in the maximum principal amount of $19,000,000 and authorizing and approving certain documents and actions in connection to the issuance of said bonds.

Sad commentary when plywood improves the look of your building.

The flashcube building will be residential? Is the glass being removed to accommodate balconies?
