The Urban Tour is a partnership between the Downtown Council Housing Task Force and the Kansas City Home Builders Association. This successful partnership is due in part to the housing renaissance and the resurgence of investment underway in our Downtown. With over 16,000 residents and $3 billion in investment Downtown is quickly becoming a vibrant place to call home.

The Kansas City Home Builders Association has dedicated a weekend of the Spring Homes Tour as the Urban Tour.  The 2006 Urban Tour weekend will take place on May 5th & 6th presenting a wonderful opportunity to showcase Downtown.

Also, in partnership with the Crossroads Community Association, the First Fridays gallery opening event on May 5th will kick off the Urban Tour with a special party from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.  First Fridays is one of the premier art events in the country and the Downtown Council, along with a solid media buy, will help promote this fabulous event and provide small roving entertainment throughout the evening along with the unique "Taste of Downtown" with a first-rate menu of the finest cuisine from a select number of downtown restaurants that will be available for sale.  This event will also give retailers the opportunity to provide coupons, informational brochures and promotional flyers.

On Saturday May 6th, tour buses will begin at 10:00 am from our official tour-starting point located at Barney Allis Plaza (12th Street and Wyandotte).  In addition to information about the tour, there will be Downtown information, entertainment and food vendors. The tour will end at 4:00 p.m.
