This project really changes the look of the riverfront from I-35 . Starting to feel like downtown actually reaches to the river, the next stages will build on that.

So this is an idea I've had for awhile and if I had any means I would do it. I would like to see a no car development on the west side of Berkeley. Right past the train tracks where those fields are. If the streetcar could connect to Berkeley and a large garage was there I think it would be feasible to build the entire neighborhood to the pedestrian scale. It would connect to the rivermarket and Berkeley by foot. Not to mention walking distance to the streetcar. I believe this could easily become not only one of the most enjoyable neighborhoods in the city but also the country. We aren't talking building enormously expensive buildings. Simply banning cars in a small couple block section where everything is mixed use. Wondering what you all think

If you haven't been by this in a while the orange is actually quite striking. Is going to show up from a long distance with that color.

...

Union, a $75 million mixed-use project, features more than 407 apartments in two buildings, plus a parking garage, retail space and offices. Tenants start moving into the west building on Friday; the east building is expected to open in August.

Around 55 apartments are already leased. Rent ranges from $1,000 for a 500-square-foot studio to $7,000 for a 2,210-square-foot penthouse suite with three private balconies, 22-foot ceilings, a chandelier and eye-popping views of downtown and the river. By the way, that penthouse is still available.
