I guess Oak Tower is updated and in use. (Unfortunately, it stands pretty dark - inside and out - in the night skyline.)
The Grand Avenue Temple Office Building (SE corner of 9th and Grand) -- 12 stories. I think it's mostly empty.

906 Grand (SW corner of 9th and Grand) owned by UMB and called Partnership Place; historically has been known as the Rialto Building, and Ozark National Bank Building) -- 13 stories. Isn't it still mostly empty?

The Scarritt Building (NW corner of 9th and Grand) -- 12 stories. Owned by Wayne Reeder, who announced intent to renovate it for offices. I'm not hopeful it will happen.

Insurance Building (NW corner of 10th and Oak) -- 6 stories. Abnos owned. Renovation never finished.

Old Muehleback Hotel Building (SW corner of 12th and Baltimore). The old hotel rooms are not being used, and there has been no plan to do anything with them.

Board of Education Building (12th between McGee and Oak) -- 11 stories. The Board is planning to sell the building.

Midland Theater Office Building (NE corner of 13th and Baltimore)-- 12 stories. Part of the Power & Light District. The building has been empty for several years. Cordish has yet to begin renovation, and there doesn't appear to be any movement to do so.

Scientology Center / City National Bank Building (SE corner of 18th and Grand) -- 7 stories. Bought in 2007 I think. The building is empty, and nothing has happened with it.

Firestone (Abdiana) Building (SE corner of 20th and Grand) -- 8 stories. Abnos owned. Building mostly empty. Is the first floor still being used?

Still a few to go, then. But spectacular progress from 15 years ago.

A proposal for a $67M renovation of this building will be going in front of the LCRA board at their meeting next week on the 22nd.

It calls for 154 apartments - 124 1Bd and 30 2Bd, 9,500 sqft of ground floor commerical space, keeping the swimming pool and the ballroom, a rooftop terrace with a dog park.

Construction is estimated to start 2Q 2017 with work completing in the 4Q of 2018.

The developers of this project are Hudson Holdings out of Delray Beach, FL, who have done or are working on a couple of adaptive re-use projects throughout the country including a $300M renovation of the St. Louis' Railway Exchange Building and the $300M renovation of the Huntington Building in Cleveland.

In 1990 a couple from California unloaded their U-haul at one of the earliest loft developments in the River Market.
After the long ride cooped up in the car, the husband took their schnauzer up to the rooftop deck to get some fresh air.
He decided to throw a ball across the roof so the dog could get some exercise.
All was fun, until the ball took a bounce over the parapet.
We were never quite sure if Chaz actually caught the thing on the way down.

The developers proposing a $61 million apartment conversion of the historic Mark Twain office tower are scheduled to request a 10-year, 100 percent property tax abatement during Wednesday’s meeting of the Land Clearance for Redevelopment Authority.

HH KC Mark Twain LLP, a partnership created by Hudson Holdings LLC of Delray Beach, Fla., closed on the 22-story building in March, by which time its occupancy rate had diminished to 20 percent, and plans to turn the building at 106 W. 11th St. into The Continental, a nod to its past as the Hotel Continental.

The project, which the developers plan to start work on in the second quarter and complete by the fourth quarter of 2018, calls for 154 luxury apartments (134 one-bedroom and 30 two-bedroom), 9,630 square feet of commercial space and a 12,674-square-foot event space. Arrangements have been made for residents to lease parking spaces in a large garage immediately north of the building.

Not a good sign if even you don't know. Thought I saw some scrap removal work or something like that walking by a few months ago but nothing since.

A quick look says that's state tax form 5060.

Seems plausible

This is a great turn around after the years of inactivity and the plan to turn the lower levels into car storage.

A plan for this building is on the LCRA docket for next week. This latest incarnation will attempt to turn the building into 202 apts (141 1bd, 61 2bd) along with 18,000 sq ft of ground floor retail.
