Barrier-protected is the most desirable facility, regardless of curb cuts. Cars are driving in the bike right now because it is only buffered by paint.

It doesn't even need to be fully protected to start, just harder to drive in.

For longer sections put up a barrier.
For smaller section put a fixed metal or concrete post up at both sides of every driveway and you've made it a lot harder to drive in because cars would need to weave in and out of the lane.

Won't stop someone from parking in the lane but it's about not letting perfect be the enemy of better

It's the same logic as this change

Talking about how to get there BY BUS in their opening announcement? I may have to pick up rock climbing.

Especially compared to the gushing from Novel over their new parking lot (which, of course, used to be a building).

All these added amenities but we still can’t attract a local major employer downtown. It’s almost as Kansas City as tearing down a building for a parking lot on a street/block with an over abundance of parking. Or not stopping at a crosswalk.

Not to side rail, but If all of this momentum flickers out because of the prevalent backwards culture of this city I don’t know if I can stomach living here much longer.

I agree. Besides a large scale rail transit plan(i understand one may be in the works), Kansas City has pretty much everything it can possibly have going for it. If the backwardness of the state and city kill this, I have no reason to stay.

Milhaus is loooking at 300 apts and 10,000 sf of retail. Smaller than their Gallerie project in CC.

While I think this is still a positive step, it's a shame they're not setting aside a larger amount of retail space.

The lots total about 240,000 sf surface area. Rough assumptions here but, assuming about 1,500 sf average for a unit, less public space and courtyards, I think you're looking at a 4-6 story buildling.

Average unit size won't be anywhere near 1500 sf -- a 1br apartment is usually around half that size. The only way the numbers in that announcement make sense is if they refer to the first phase of a two-phase development. Otherwise we're looking at a project the size of CityClub on a lot that's three times larger.

City Barrel Brewing Plans Fall Opening
The Crossroads will be the home of another microbrewery this fall when City Barrel Brewing Co. opens in a historic building at 1916 Grand Blvd.

The microbrewery, which will specialize in “hoppy, wild and sour beers,” according to its Facebook page, is being started by two craft beer industry veterans, James Stutsman and Grant Waner.
