I figure so-called undesirable businesses help provide for more affordable housing in an area. A unit that faces the entrance is going to be harder to sell as a high end unit. It may not make into low income housing, but the diversity of the city providing diverse housing options is a good thing.

Why can't we just have officers downtown? Other people can disagree with me, but I see no police presence downtown.

I'm not some let's do stop and frisk or be aggressive at all. But just having a single cop walk down busy Kansas City roads would help a lot. Everything now is private security and they have to follow their own rules.

Shit on what I’m asking if you want. But to me it’s like a casino, I’ve got no problem with them, and I’ll go to one if friends want to. But there’s no denying that they also have a heightened probability for attracting problems, like what happened here.

If the consensus is that the benefits outweigh the problems, great.

This seems like it’d keep everyone happy and safer. Outside of first Fridays I never see cops walking the streets.

I don't see any problem with a diversity of businesses in our city and I don't see any more problems related to these kinds of businesses compared to other late night entertainment businesses.

Let's not sanitize everything downtown.

The two strip clubs are the least of our problems.

New liquor license for City Barrel Brewing Company at 1916 Main Grand (former office supply store that was threatened with demolition by the owner of The Cashew).

Yes, fixed. Thanks!

For those who don't recall, the owner of the Cashew threatened to demolish this 1915 building to create more parking (despite the lightly used surface lot to the south and the shared lot across the street).

I’m sure it’s been mentioned, but what is going on with the storage space on 18th St? It looks like there are barrier fences up on the parking lot.

^Are they using that parking lot for worker parking for the renovation of the City Bank?

Now we just need an extensive road diet along Grand from RVM to Crown Center, in conjunction with the bike lanes.

The road was cut down to 3 auto lanes through there? Are you meaning get rid of the on-street parking?

Yeah, we just got a road diet between River Market and Crossroads. The bike lane needs to be protected (not just buffered), then extended through Crown Center (which the Gillham Bike Lane study anticipates doing: http://kcmo.gov/publicworks/gillhambikestudy/).

I guess it still feels like an expressway at times. Crossing at 17th by messenger coffee for exampe. Would be nice if mirroed Main St in terms of lanes, etc.

If the bike lane were at the curb and protected by parked cars, it would appear to be much less of a chasm. The current design was a baby step.

So many curb cuts makes that design less desirable. Cars would always be queuing in the bike lane to see around park cars to get onto grand.
