I walked by this today and got really excited and then saw the sign and remembered what it is going to be. Super disappointed is a good description.

The building directly adjacent to the north of the corner is Vulpes Bastille, which is to my knowledge not being rehabbed. I'm not entirely sure if the next one north (1735 Locust) is being rehabbed, but the one north of that (1733) certainly is.
Looks like the 1733 building is an Abbott property:

Looks like the sale of the three buildings east of Washington Square Park includes this huge lot in the Crossroads. If I had my way these buildings would go residential to add some life to the park, but the article makes a point that these "trophy" buildings have the attention of players in the downtown office market because of the impact they could have on prices moving forward.
Parking challenges, potential
Anderson said it was a coincidence that both buildings hit the market at nearly the same time. But she said many of the prospective buyers have expressed interest in acquiring both. That would be ideal, she said, because both share a roughly 1,300-space parking garage under the buildings, with each of the three buildings’ two owners owning a share of the garage.
The 2323 Grand offering also includes a surface parking lot covering the entire block bounded by 19th Street, 20th Street, Grand Boulevard and McGee St. The development potential of that site, which lies in the heart of the Crossroads Arts District, has added to investor interest in 2323 Grand, she said.
Greg Swetnam, director of office brokerage for Kessinger/Hunter & Co. LC, said demand for both iconic Crown Center properties probably is being driven by their rent rolls and “the fact that there is still quite a bit of cheap money available for investors to play with.”
“The only real drawback I can see with the combined projects is the parking arrangement,” Swetnam said. “While typically they do not have problems with accommodating tenants because Lathrop’s ratio is very low, it still is a bit of an issue. Otherwise, both buildings are very good quality, and both should get a lot of attention.”

I am working on a project about The City Market and other downtown neighborhoods for school. How would you describe the Crossroads during the years 2000-2005?

So I guess the event space is taking over LMG's space:

It's good to see more of the industrial uses moving out of the East Crossroads.

I agree, event spaces are right up there with the "antique" stores in the West Bottoms. Needing further development.

Are they still owned by the original developer? If so it kind of seems like a way to wait for the market without being distructivw and just sitting on it
