I have noticed the top of 1KCP has been sporting some new lighting the last couple of days. Looks like new LED lighting to me.

The lights are also animated at times.

Great color choices, too.

I went outside last night to take out the trash and looked at the skyline and it appeared they were completely off. They might still be tinkering with them.

The lights were on at 5:30am today.

Somebody was playing like a demon. Colors changing continuously. Sometimes completely and other times in rainbow hued stream of color that had a billowing effect.

The best was when it was all bright silver-white in strobe-ing rapid flashes. That must have been amazing to see from a distance.

Same thing loftguy said. Last night around 9 the lights were going crazy. Sometimes they were a solid purple hue, other times they looked like a tie-dye shirt, changing in waves. Very cool.

I guess the new lighting was short lived. The top has been dark since well before Christmas.

It was on last night, but I've noticed it being lit less.

Virgin Mobile selects office building for new HQ
Virgin Mobile has chosen and quietly moved into its new headquarters location: One Kansas City Place.

Previously based in Warren, N.J., the prepaid wireless carrier, a unit of Sprint Corp., announced in July that it would move its headquarters and create 50 new jobs in downtown Kansas City.

Great news to have someone with a national presence move downtown, even if it is just 50 jobs. Downtown still has a ways to go to be seen as the "prestige location," but this is a good step in the right direction.

While I would not complain about any new jobs coming to KC, getting the actual HQ is exactly what we want.

Because if they expand they will expand the HQ to support growth.

Sprint looking to sell part of HQ campus. Maybe they'll at some point move HQ downtown. Upper management may be interested in being near the downtown airport, just minutes from their corporate jets. They used to have significant office presence in One KC Place years ago...

I'd gladly take them if they wanted to come, but I'd really rather not give them anything for it.

I don't think there are that many unrented floors at One KC Place. Maybe two or three, but in terms of full floors, the building is almost fully occupied. And one existing tenant in particular will be adding a large group of people from its recent acquisition in Topeka.

Apparently Omaha, DesMoines, and OKC all have buildings taller than One KC Place Now.

I was in OKC recently- that building is pretty much their entire skyline. They have more tall buildings outside of the core than within it. It's a nice looking building, just super out of place.

It looks 1984 esque to me. I feel like context is really important for buildings it's a big reason why I don't like skyscrapers in Europe outside of Frankfurt and London
