I thought the Pearl Harbor finale ws pretty cool, but it definitely is missing something when the Angels aren't there.

Photos of the airshow.  Taken from Case Park.  I agree... not as entertaining as in previous years, but still a fun day!

saw 2 pilots and one of their sergeants digging on the blues band down at winslow's yesterday in uniform and then they moved on to john's after winslows. they seemed to be cool about it all and the biker's loved 'em hanging out.

It's at New Century this year and will be at New Century every other year. Wonder how long before it's at New Century on a permanent basis? Was Garmin always the sponsor? I bet Garmin has a big influence as to why it's at New Century vs Downtown

Sucks it’s at new century. I love hearing and seeing the Blue Angels ripping around downtown on practice runs.

yeah I live up North and they fly over my home in Briarcilff during the practice and show. Plus like you said working downtown was fun to see them practice. Biggest Bonus is to the ppl who lived downtown to get a free show :)

I hope they return downtown but I understand that airspace is tighter there, as well as exhibition space. Plus getting the ppl to and from took more coordination. So seeking a place to make logistics easier to provide a better experience I get

That’s right, you are close to me.

Wherever it is there will be complaints too. It’s not unreasonable for adults but the noise of the jets is highly disruptive for small children. Anyone with them near Gardner would be smart to go as far away from the site as they can.

The largest planes going downtown are nothing compared to the fighter jets. The baseball teams fly on 737s into downtown even.

Same. Work in downtown NKC and live in Briarcliff area. Miss them cruising around on practice runs and buzzing over the rooftops.

Wonder if this is temporary and there is a possible return to the DT airport next year?

Related, I flew into Pensacola, FL (direct flight out of MCI on the way to Gulf Shores, AL) about a month ago - didn't realize it's the home of the Blue Angels. Saw them in formation as we Uber'd towards the Floribama line. There is a Naval Aviation museum there that looks legit - next time.

These are great things to read. I also know when a new baseball team is in town when a passenger jets lands downtown, or can be a bummer when they leave after a night game at like around 11pm, especially if they take off to the North :)

As for Blue Angels, yes they are at the Naval Air Station in Pensacola. My family has been traveling to Perdido Key, FL, right to the East, since I was in middle school. The air museum is awesome, lots of great stuff to look at and experience, plus it is free.

Delta 757 downtown tonight. Delta flew a 767 into the downtown airport during the middle of air show as a charter one year.

I imagine with all of the places to watch a downtown airshow, the event was getting poor ticketed attendance. It's so flat out in Gardner that the non-ticket buyers can't get quite a great view of the event since a tree-line or even a one-story building blocks a lot. I loved it downtown, but they were able to sell out both days this past weekend and I think tickets were $40 for GA, so I'd be surprised to see it downtown again.

The thunderbirds are already scheduled for Labor Day weekend in 2022 at New Century.
