Was it all Amtrak equipment, or mixed?

Does this mean that the restored streetcar might not return to Union Station? The article sort of implies that.

Why not put it in front of the station in one of open grassy areas like:

Grid, that occurred to me as well. It seems that Union Station is the most appropriate place for it to remain. It always seemed to be hidden out of the way in that location behind the station.

they're actually obligated to display it publicly during the station's operating hours as part of accepting it in the first place. the term is 99 years.

I was thinking that at the old circle drive where the bike station is would make sense.

So everyone that gets off the streetcar can see the old streetcar

that's an elevated structure and we're told it cannot support the weight. that's why they closed it to buses.

It's probably more correct they don't want to spend the money to reinforce it just to hold a display piece, since the streetcar is on top of the same structure. That's completely fair.

When he mentioned a closed bus loop I knew he understood where I meant.

The streetcar does not run upon the closed bus loop.

It is nearby, but they are independent structures.

It could work on the remaining section of the walnut flyover ramp on Main, but would probably just get tagged by Siren in that location...

a little tidbit i learned about the renovation: the east edge of the parking lot will be reconstructed to make a nice walkway directly from the streetcar platform to the front door of union station.

Would like to see another coffee bar (perhaps same operator inside) on E end of building that has a counter near the streetcar stop and outdoor patio seating in what used to be a circle driveway. Or convert the old circle drive into a well manicured pocket park that has a coffee/drink/bagel stand.

This is a great idea.
