I feel like maybe this has been discussed but I can't find it. This to me is a perfect two block stretch that could be turned into a pedestrian only restaurant/bar stretch ala 4th street in Cleveland http://www.east4thstreet.com/shop-dine-experience

Anybody know the ownership throughout this stretch? Assuming something will pop up soonish in the surface lots to the east, seems like now would be a good time.

Have suggested creating a pedestrian only street along 8th from Broadway to Main streetcar stop with a vision to develop mixed-used hirises in the surface lots with the garage access facing 7th (ideally hotel/apt/office combos with small to large retail spaces facing 8th). Downtown lacks traditional retailers and this could be a good stretch for commercial, mainstream retailers - something like Denver's 16th St Mall but narrower paths.
Chain retailers aren't a good fit for Xroads or RM (keep those local), P&L doesn't seem interested in attracting major retailers. With online delivery harming traditional retail it might not gain traction but if downtown were to attract them, this would be a good stretch to target them - pedestrian only with access to streetcar stop. Downtown could use mainstream clothing stores, Office Depot, shoe stores, Target of course and yes even RD4L - all on one stretch.
