So with all the hotels, more than I can keep track of, how many hotel rooms will downtown have when all of these are complete. Over 8K?
6521.

Marriot 983
Crowne Plaza 388
President 121
Philips 217
Holiday Inn Aladdin 193
Westin Crown Center 724
Sheraton Crown Center 733
Comfort Inn and Suites 110
Fairfield inn 115
Savoy 120
Ambassador 113
1524 Main Courtyard + Residence 257
Hampton Inn Gumbel Bldg 70
Hilton Home2 115
Indigo Loop 113
Indigo Crossroads 80
Pabst/Pendergast Crossroads Hotel 125
HI Express (Interstate Bldg, 417 E 13th) 76
Loews 800
24th/Troost 90
KC Club 114
Federal Reserve 301
Hotel Bravo 300
Hayatt House 153
Palace Building Canopy 110

There's still capacity for way more rooms than that.

Visit KC shows 14 facilities spread across the city with space for over 11,000 people
Sprint Center holds 19,000
The entire Bartle Hall complex has 37 spaces that can hold 77,300 people.
And the new convention hotel is adding more space.

If we can sell conventions downtown could support quadruple that in hotel rooms.

The parking lot where the hotel will be built is currently paying $52 annually in property taxes.

Not true. Their property taxes are $3 this year. The lot was assessed with a market value of $100

However, they're paying $1013.88 to the CID

I think we need to reexamine how we asses surface parking.

Also need landscaping and attendant requirements.

Note that they are exempt from paying into the streetcar TDD, at least until the property is reassessed with improvements. Parcels with less than $100 in market value are not assessed in the TDD.

I thought there was a separate tax/fee specifically for parking lots?

Now I'm curious how many *other* parking lots have an assessed market value of <= $100.

Public pay lots. This one is private.

Either way, that assessment is only $55 per space per year. Still not much when you're only going to pay $3 in property tax.

Do we know who owned this lot before? DST? It's in their little walled garden.

Listing for this building's ground floor retail space. It was last updated in January, so still no real news about this place.

Downtown Hyatt House gets financing for energy-efficiency efforts
One of Kansas City’s downtown hotel projects will use additional financing to implement green and energy-efficient measures.

The 13-story, 153-room Hyatt House at 9th Street and Broadway will get $8 million in what’s called Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy, or C-PACE, financing from Petros PACE Financing LLC. Colorado-based developer Pedersen Development Co. plans to use the financing for efficient versions of roofing, walls, windows, HVAC, water heaters and LED lighting.

New Hyatt House Adding ‘Sexy Pizza’ to Downtown Skyline

Construction is expected to begin within a couple weeks on a 13-story Hyatt House hotel at Ninth and Broadway that plans to introduce ‘Sexy Pizza’ to the downtown skyline.

“It’s the food that’s sexy,” developer Scott Pedersen explained. “It’s a great concept and a great fit for the hotel.”

Pedersen said the Denver-based pizza chain is owned by partner Jeff Shanahan and will be part of a rooftop amenity package that includes a full bar with craft cocktails and several tap beers, all open to the public.

On the local front, the Roasterie is planning a full café in the lobby. Pedersen said a special “Garment District Blend” will be served in honor of the historic neighborhood where the hotel will be located.
