Sidewalk snow removal/enforcement

Post by WoodDraw »

Does the city do any enforcement of snow/ice removal? Things have been pretty dangerous the past few days.

48 hours after storm is over they will respond to 311....and ask the property owner to treat.....they never write tickets.

The best way to to get action is to publicly shame the company on social media....or contact them privately and ask. Both seem to work.

So again the answer is...no

It's just so dangerous. My favorite was 10th Street where it was a complete sheet of ice and the handicap sidewalk access point if missed led straight into like a 6in drop off.

Guess some have forgotten, or never learned to walk downtown streets when there is ice and/or snow. Gone are the days of buckled rubber boots or galoshes I guess. May not be stylish but they worked pretty good years ago.

Sidewalk clearing enforcement continues to lag and city policy has bike lanes as unimportant to clear compared to car lanes, defeating the purpose of having a separate lane.

Continue to report issues to the city to 311 and modot. The more tickets that get reported the more the issue will be focused on.

The city workers do a good job in difficult weather, we just need to move the needle on policy.
