Amazon could use Sprint campus as short term tactical space as new buildings constructed. And if TMO merger happens and pulls out of KC, about 5K potential employees available for AMZ. And lots of contractors. But hopefully TMO realizes it's cheaper to operate out of KC than Seattle.

30 miles from urban center might work for an NYC or Chicago bid but not for KC.

In choosing the location for HQ2, Amazon has a preference for: 
Metropolitan areas with more than one million people 
A stable and business-friendly environment 
Urban or suburban locations with the potential to attract and retain strong technical talent 
Communities that think big and creatively when considering locations and real estate options

HQ2 could be, but does not have to be: 
An urban or downtown campus 
A similar layout to Amazon’s Seattle campus 
A development-prepped site.
We want to encourage states/provinces and communities to think creatively for viable real estate options, while not negatively affecting our preferred timeline

Hopefully the city makes a very public push like they did for the RNC. I don't think anyone who's seen that video will never forget it.

Key points that should definitely be mentioned loudly are the large swaths of usable land in and around our CBD DT, the DT airport and how it can basically become a giant executive airport for Amazon (You don't even need to rely on any other airport!), residential construction boom DT, new convention hotel DT, Google fiber, and our efficient highway network along with rapidly expanding streetcar service.

Always thought a HQ in the Midwest and another on the east coast would be something Amazon might consider, so you could have Seattle as the main HQ and then KC and Boston as regional HQ's.

I’m guessing he’s buying presents to donate to a charity for Christmas. No way we get the HQ...right?

Or maybe just details about KC's HQ2 bid, Oct 19 is deadline.

Or perhaps Amazon is announcing yet another area warehouse on MO side. Seems AMZ warehouse announcements aren't really a big deal anymore. At this point it's no different than announcing another Walmart or Costco opening in a city. AMZ warehouses are now really just the equivalent of big box stores, except shipping based to a broader region (with lower avg pay than Walmart and Costco). The Top 50 cities will likely have many soon enough.

I just heard about it on lunch so I hope it's better than the story I was told. But apparently Sly James is posting reviews on Amazon for like fishing nets being like oh did you know Kansas City has fishing.

Anyway, I hope I'm wrong.

NOOOOO!!!! I get us trying to play off the cute midwestern thing but this just seems dumb and juvenile. Kansas City has so much to offer, and I get they are saying that through the product reviews but nobody from amazon is actually going to take the time to read all that except a low level employee.
