The Washington Square Park image looks similar to this image of a downtown stadium.

Not sure how I feel about either project, but they're very pretty pictures. Anyone know where they came from? The stadium one was from Tony's KC and he didn't provide a source.

Oh well. The orientation of that outfield is just plain wrong anyways. I think only Comerica Park has as south-facing of an outfield as that rendering and it's a problem.

Especially when there are 3-4 other and better sites with cleared land, better highway access, better views, etc.
Putting a stadium in the north loop would do nothing to develop it back into the thriving area it was 70 years ago.
It's sat empty for 5+ decades. The only hope for it's comeback is the elimination of the north freeway, which is finally being discussed.

Curious, why? Wouldn't it be better to have a view of DT skyline in the outfield. I guess most people would enter from home plate, so that would be awkward. Maybe, rotate 90 degrees to face Bartle.

It's less to do with view and more to do with shadows and glare from the sun throughout the day. You typically want to have a ball field with center field pointing northeast to avoid the worst effects from the sun throughout the day. That's why there's usually a standard where most MLB fields are oriented this way.

Meeting the rule and having a downtown view would be hard except for one place. On the hill at Cambridge Dr, directly west of the Roasterie. Would be a horrible place for a stadium.

Ok, makes sense. So, rotate it 90 degrees so it faces the River Market? That would be alright and you'd still have 909 in right field.

PNC Park faces south. It is definitely not the preferred orientation, but clearly, some exceptions are made.
