It's two blocks away? Does that really make that much of a difference?

Plus we don't even know the service level of this thing. I'm guessing it'll be on par with a Starbucks kiosk you find in a grocery.
Since it is a licensee it will be on par with the one inside the crowne plaza.

Yes it absolutely does, the highway is like a pedestrian barrier. People won't cross it for the most part.

 "People won't cross it", it's a loud block over the highway, not a dilapidated rope bridge. It'll disappear at some point with the cap. And like grecobs said, I'm sure this isn't the last Starbucks that gets added to downtown over the next 5-10 years.

Plus, you're implying nobody would come from the south...

Take the streetcar. Easy peasy.

There are more people crossing I-670 at Main now than I ever recall in my seven years (2007-2014) making that commute on foot. I often would see no one on my mile walk -- there or back to the Crossroads -- let alone people crossing the freeway.

So there will be three Starbucks in greater downtown -- the full service one at 12th & Main, the "hotel" version in Crowne Plaza (which is open far more often), and then this new Hampton Inn one. Zero drive-thrus.

;-)

... there's one on 12th and main though, which has no pedestrian barrier

So are there 4 cranes up in KC downtown right now?

1) This building
2) Arterra
3) New Convention Hotel - someone said it was going up early
4) development immediately south of Crown center

The base of a crane for the big Children's Mercy expansion is up.

So there's three up and two more coming soon and Three Light upcoming TBD.

So depending on timing, could have six up at once.

Can we talk about the temporary protection around the streetcar stop? It looks stout enough that someone could move into it after hotel construction is complete.

And smells nice. Can we just keep it up? It’s huge.

The people made the video did very little editing. This is just a set of basic themes and sequences that you would find in a program like iMovie or Final Cut.
