Stalled while they fight the contractor in court. Could be awhile. They offered to give back the deposit of those that pre-leased. I believe they found a new general contractor already, but they can't move forward.

Could it mean a new one will go up in its place?

Well, certainly a crane will have to go back up if the project is ever to be finished. But no, I take this as a sign we're in for the long stall.

Second time this has happened in recent times in KC. The other project was in the West Plaza and that took forever to get back on track. When it finally started up again, they demolished the building (which was a real shame) and built something entirely new and much less ambitious in its place.

I sincerely hope that doesn't happen with this project. It is particularly ambitious and worthy of completion. Hopefully it doesn't stagnate too long.

Status of the 2nd/Delaware project lawsuits...
https://www.bizjournals.com/kansascity/ ... pdate.html

Is pay-walled, summary...

- Developer planning to restart in April, but dependent on HUD redoing loan
- Subcontractors making it difficult to redo HUD loan, resistance from bonding company
- Project cost went from $60M to 96M (one local real estate source says $96M doesn't make sense, not workable at $350K per unit)
- Was 38% complete in June

Making up the difference will be money they get in a countersuit, if they win.

There was some speculation that this project would restart in April. Is there any action? Has the crane returned?

Spoke to someone tonight about this. They're about to line up financing to get it moving again.
