Compelling rendering.
Old-timey, neo-classic, Centropolis architecture is the worst. Fisher-Price buildings. They have faux details without the underlying structure.

Re: 21st and Wyandotte
According to a thread on Twitter, it appears that this is the most up-to-date rendering. Copaken-Brooks also said that they hope to break ground on the project by the Summer (I'll believe it when I see it).
GRID wrote:I came here thinking I found something nobody knew about and of course there is already an extensive thread about it .
Oh well.
Is Copken goign to actually build any of this stuff. They don't seem to good at actually building their ideas, at least in the urban core.
Here is there rendering.
Re: 21st and Wyandotte
zoning change (M1-5 to URD) is scheduled for march 3 hearing.
Re: 21st and Wyandotte
There is a neighborhood group circulating opposition letters citing disruption to the neighborhood and of course PARKING. We are talking about an abandoned lot thats current only purpose is a commode for neighborhood dogs.

There is no silver lining that does not have someone who is fully focused on how annoying the glare is coming off of it.UMKCroo wrote:There is a neighborhood group circulating opposition letters citing disruption to the neighborhood and of course PARKING. Long-delayed redevelopment of Freight House district vacant lot has a new proposal
A 12-story, 116-unit residential tower with retail on the ground floor is the new plan for 2100 Wyandotte, a vacant lot in the Freight House district that once was dubbed the PCB Block because of prior industrial work.
Developer Copaken Brooks has posted the latest concept drawing, showing a bigger mixed-used building than envisioned in previous redevelopment proposals.
The new plan calls for market-rate studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments with 153 enclosed parking spaces under the name Arterra 21.

Re: 21st and Wyandotte
the exterior material is brick, actually. it's not really apparent from the rendering. the residential tower (above the 2nd floor) only consumes about half the lot, so there's "breathing room" to the south.
also, city staff recommends approval.

Re: 21st and Wyandotte
Brick would seem harmonious with the district yet the architecture would be different from the old industrial rsidential conversions. I was amazed that the valley between the KCPA and Liberty MEmorial is 130 foot. But wouldn-t the view shed from Kauffman to Union Station be obscured?
