Re: OFFICIAL - Loews Convention Hotel (formerly Hyatt)
Are we at the top now, or are there still more floors to go?

There will be a 3 floor setback on the south end, when you see that you will know the summit is at hand.

Looks like pre-cast stone on south and west matches well with KCPA and limestone of KCPL. Not so crazy about the Darth Vader dark cladding on the north.

The aerial view is indeed exposed darker.
Look at the grey of the sidewalks and you can see even it's darker in the aerial view
The Cindy Circo photo is way dark also.

I have always noticed the exposure as well. The one thing that I wish was flying in and out of our city doesn't provide any good views of downtown. When you fly into most cities (thinking here CHI, LA, MKE, CLE, STL, NYC, CLT, PHX, DAL and most others) the air traffic patterns and flight elevations are coming right over or near those cities skyines for some good commercial air shots. oh well.
Great pic BTW.

^ It depends on where your flight it coming from and the direction of the wind. When I fly into KC, I will often fly right over downtown and land from the south. I think you have about as good a chance of seeing downtown KC as you do seeing downtown St Louis.
By the way, the flight from DC or Baltimore to KC always flies directly over metro StL, but just to the north, so you see pretty much the entire metro area. Pretty cool view especially at night.

i always fly directly over kc from a high altitude en route to denver and can sometimes see the entire metro and have taken a few cool shots over the years. funny how you never get to see your own city from high altitude.GRID wrote: ↑Tue Mar 05, 2019 9:13 am ^ It depends on where your flight it coming from and the direction of the wind. Now I "get" the vertical recessed notches in the otherwise plain masonry. At least in that view looking north from 16th & Baltimore it seems to be a clear reference to the lighting in the setbacks of the P&L bldng.
