I run up Walnut through that area with some frequency. About half the time there are some gooniebirds (technical term) ranting and raving in the parking lot behind the Midwest Hotel. I usually just keep on moving. Good times.

Depends on how much LSD they've consumed.

OMG, some tangible work is being done on this project. Missouri Gas Energy is right now digging up the sidewalk to abandon gas service.
The permit was issued last Thursday: http://kivaweb.kcmo.org/kivanet/2/permi ... 9&jur=KCMO

So are the developers paying homeless people to burn this place for insurance money because they haven’t locked down financing still and are in a financial bind?

It is starting to look like the developer wants the Midwest to burn to the ground.

This is so sad for a promising project. I hope they are not commenting fraud but still that the developers have a generous insurance policy and the damage isn't too bad :(

Need to get the financing lined up asap, their investment is literally going up in smoke.

A press release from yesterday states they are doing their best to prevent the fires and that they plan to break ground in June.

This is terrible. Why don't they charge and put these criminals starting these fires in prison? The same as drug dealers and murderers, if they would just crack down on crime things would be a lot safer.
