Italian Gardens Closed

Post by FangKC »

After 78 years in business, the city's oldest family-owned restaurant, Italian Gardens, closed yesterday with little fanfare. The reason cited for the closure was the poor health of the owner. No news on what will happen to the restaurant.

Italian Gardens was once known as a primary hangout for the city's mobsters.

As a sidenote, while Italian Gardens is the oldest family-run restaurant in KC, the oldest restaurant in the city is The Savoy Grill, which has been open for more than 100 years.

Sorry KC. Didn't mean to steal your thunder. I didn't see the post under restaurants.
