Town Pavilion
DT Skyscraper, huge lobby you can rent out, and they have everything needed to furnish it beautifully. They'll even make all the fountains soapy and bubbly for you!

Re: Venues - downtown wedding reception
Depends on your budget, but my wife says a friend of hers just went to a wedding at the Kauffman PAC and it was amazing. Have no idea what that costs.
We got married at Club 1000 at 10th and Broadway. They have two event spaces I believe, although the price has gone up considerably from when we got married. The view is not super great or anything, but its a cool modern space with minimalist design which was perfect for what we wanted, and they did let us take pics on the roof which had some good views of the KC skyline.
I've been to a wedding at the Clubhouse on Baltimore. It was a bit stuffy to be honest, but overall pretty nice.

we had our ceremony and reception at the hobbs building in the west bottoms. the ceremony was in the urban courtyard outside, and the reception inside.

not our wedding, but a good feel for the space and options. it was great.

If the reception isn't too big (less than 150 I believe) the Little Theater in Municipal Auditorium has been popular for decades. There are also other rooms in the complex. One advantage this complex "may" have over others downtown is the open catering policy. In other words you can choose any caterer from the list of caterers, other places may require you to use the in-house or exclusive caterer.

I always recommend Berg Event Space.
A new space recently opened at 18th & Oak. Also the brand new Gallery space in P&L above the Bristol.
In the Crossroads, Dan Meiner's space is really nice.

How downtown does downtown need to be? The Vox Theater in Rosedale is an awesome space and the guy that runs it is super cool.

Re: Venues - downtown wedding reception
Thanks for all of the great (and quick) responses. Seems like there are 3 types of places - urban/loft, art deco, modern
I think I'm going to have trouble selling the urban/loft venues (Berg, Hobbs, b studio, or any gallery spaces)
Like the Little Theatre, but it's probably too small. I think we'll have between 200-250. Any other 20s, 30s venues?
Modern spaces like the Gallery in P&L, or the PAC would be perfect. PAC is too expensive, i'd imagine. Can't seem to find any pricing info on Gallery. Don't even think it's open yet.
Ultimately, I think I'll just have to pick a handful of gallery spaces and line up some tours.

We used the roof and helzberg room at the downtown library. Might not hold 250 though.

As said there are other options at the Convention Center, some that have large windows to let in some sort of view.KC-wildcat wrote:Like the Little Theatre, but it's probably too small. I think we'll have between 200-250. Any other 20s, 30s venues?
And remember, other places may not let you choose a caterer you might prefer if that is important to you.

Haha. If were able to line up Gallery in P&L, I'll stop by Kill Devil Club and buy a round of cocktails.taxi wrote:Are we invited?

I'll second Club 1000. I got married at the Cathedral and had our reception there four years ago and had a very positive experience. You'll be a little limited on a few vendors, but it can work into a moderate budget.
Re: Venues - downtown wedding reception
Benton's at Crown Center is now an event space. I think that would be awesome.

New Ambassador Hotel on Grand is promoting a ballroom space for 90-120 and a smaller boardroom space for 12-15. Too small for us, but I imagine the venue is really sharp.

Wow, that space looks cool. Might be a bit too small, unfortunately.town cow wrote:New Amigoni winery space.
