Sporting Innovations plans big hiring surge

$85,000 to $130,000...?!? I seriously think I went in the wrong direction with my career choice... However, that is great news in regards Sporting Innovations!

I thought that immediately when I read that as well. Either I'm being grossly underpaid or I chose the wrong skill sets.

However, I do remember a quote from someone at the company stating that they are expecting to hire a bunch of 20 somethings
that would work 80 hours a week.

When I was in my 20's I was working 80 hours a week. But only making 25k, so that's different. Plus I don't think you could pay me enough to set and code all day, takes a special personality to do that.

I love coding it is fun and I am not joking and I can be coding all day long when I am having fun. That said 85,000 for 80 hrs a week while it is really great money, you are really getting paid 21 dls an hour.

May as well get a 65K where you work 40 hours a week.

FanThreeSixty (Formerly Sporting Innovations) plans to hire about 100 people over the next 18 months and grow to about 160 employees at their downtown HQ. I wonder if their current location can handle that growth or if they will look to new office space?

Their current building likely holds 160 people

I worked at a place that had 200 people in 30,000 square feet.

They have 6x approx. 5300 square feet floors (rough guess), for 32250 square feet.

lane will probably come down soon. they can't keep up with the basics (securing the building, avoiding codes violations). the adjacent gravel lot has become quite a problem for the streetcar, sending debris down the tracks with every single rain event (not to mention being a problem for pedestrians). doesn't sound like the proposed mixed use development that would cover both parcels is ready to start.

More surface lot doesn't seem to fix the problem though.

they will have to pave or do something in the short term. you can only have gravel if it's been that way since before the regs changed. if lane goes down for temporary parking it will have to be paved or something constructed.

Any new lot has to follow current code requirements, which includes a buffer of planting at the sidewalk and a percentage of interior space given up to something green.

It's functionally ~25% less spots on the same land unless the spots are smaller.

Sporting won't have enough spots for their employees when they redo the gravel lot unless someone gives them an out because they use nearly all of them today. This area is worth watching.

This is not happy news. Does sporting still own it?

the development proposal is sweet. i'm willing to part with the lane as long as it doesn't become a surface lot.

Man, it better be good and come to fruition. Even in it's current state, the Lane Bldg. looks beautiful compared to the "cost-effective" look of it's neighbor.

So I misunderstood your post....I thought you were saying the mixed use development isn't happening....but what I hear now is it is going to happen they just need to take lane down now to fix problems in the interim? Maybe they should publish those plans to make us feel better first?
