Hi everyone,
I'm doing a scavenger hunt and am looking for something that is on top of a chessboard somewhere in Downtown Kansas City. Does anyone know of any buildings our outdoor areas where chessboards are on display? This particular chessboard actually has the chess pieces on it, so it seems almost like more of an art display than a board for the public to actually play on.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Yup library. They don't always have the pieces out though.
Just give us your list, we will knock it out by this afternoon

It's not the set on top of the library. It's a marble board with white and brown pieces. It appears to be sitting on top of a table (rather than being integrated into the table).
Has anyone seen any boards inside of buildings? I was thinking that since there is a set on top of the library that there might be one inside on display somewhere, but I haven't been in there in so long that I can't remember. Since the pieces in this set are on display I'm thinking it has to be somewhere that people wouldn't steal the pieces from though.

I can't remember the name of the piece (nor the artist), but the Nelson Atkins gallery has a modern sculpture piece consisting of a marble white/brown chess board with an arm holding a head. Has been years since I've seen it, so don't know which gallery it may be in currently.

Modern art room: original building, east wing, first room to the left when entering the hall with the lion and kissing couple (if entering sculpture hall from Kirkwood Hall). Sculpture is on the southeast wall. Forgot the name also.kclofter wrote: I can't remember the name of the piece (nor the artist), but the Nelson Atkins gallery has a modern sculpture piece consisting of a marble white/brown chess board with an arm holding a head. From the clues we've been given so far the Nelson is outside the boundaries of where this thing can be found. It's somewhere in the core of downtown.

The scavenger hunt led us to the mayor's office which has a chessboard. Apparently he's a big chess player.

Interesting. I always figured him more of a Checkers man.KSTHANE wrote: The scavenger hunt led us to the mayor's office which has a chessboard. Apparently he's a big chess player.
