The downtown Crowne Plaza Hotel at 13th and Wyandotte will hold a grand opening today after a recent remodeling.

I would say so. Looks pretty good these days (inside at least). Of special noteworthy significance are the hanging light fixtures in the lobby. The shades are panaoramic prints of our skyline in 360 degrees. Pretty sweet looking. It would look great in my dining room but the fianc?e said no!

has anyone seen the renovated rooms? i'm sure it's the standard new hotel look: dark woods, modern lines, flat screens, ipod alarm clocks...

They painted the garage but I can't understand why they didn't paint the hotel....it's definitely in need of a new coat of paint.

The new 3 tone paint scheme as seen on the north side will make this look better than the day it opened as a Holiday Inn. The blank sides will not look so blank anymore with an illusion of windows at a distance. The lightest of the tones is very close to the limestone of the KCP&L and Muni Auditorium.

I am amazed at what a big difference a simple paint job makes. It has really classed up a plain jane that was not worthy to squat between Municipal Auditorium and the Power & Light. Wonder if something similar would help Oak & Petticoat Lane?

Upon reading responses on Yelp, the hotel is preparing for another extensive renovation. Hopefully they freshen up some of the aesthetics on the outside!

The hotel is now owned by a very large Chicago Developer, John Buck Company, that appears to specialize in developing and managing trophy office properties, high-end hotels(including LOEWS), and residential.

I know I just said KC shouldn't be tearing stuff down, but man, they could replace this with something so much better. It's a prominent location that deserves it.
