No idea. I'm not familiar with the renovation enough to say it won't be reinstalled, just saying that I'm quite sure it wasn't there in 1888.

The hotel will indeed be "21c Kansas City" and the restaurant will be "The Savoy @ 21c". Council is hearing their CID request right now. Our penguin will not be gray -- the color will be announced "in the coming weeks".

KCMO Historic Preservation recently posted pics of the interior of 21c that should put to rest any concern for the historic portion of Savoy Grill. This hotel will be top notch!

That's what I like to see!

In this shot you can see that the grill space was indeed the only area with stained glass at one point.

FWIW, the grill end of the building is the only portion without windows right now--perhaps the stained glass will make an appearance.

Yes, the adjoining dining room—a 1960s addition by the way—is getting a contemporary upgrade, although the original columns, ceiling and floor will remain.

Sounds like they got an earful!

Construction fence is down...sidewalk is still a construction zone but can walk down it now...here are a couple pics inside.
