Looks like I was mistaken earlier in the thread. The room I posted appears to be the one from your first picture

Those strange louver light things look so bad in that room. I predict they will come down in 10 years.

Just walked by the building and can confirm that the stained glass has been installed in the Savoy Grill portion of the hotel. Great to see it back!smh wrote:FWIW, the grill end of the building is the only portion without windows right now--perhaps the stained glass will make an appearance.

They were moving in mattresses and headboards over the weekend. Some pics:

Getting really close. Peered in all the windows a while ago. The spaces look really awesome.

Restaurant training must be going on...last night it looked opened (candles lit on tables, etc) and groups were pouring out of there.....someone on twitter posted July 3rd opening....maybe doing a soft opening then?

Wow. That look is about 180 degrees from the way I expected them to go with the dining room. So I guess the remnants of the old Savoy Grill, the nostalgia the article mentions, are limited to the bar?KCPowercat wrote:https://www.kansascity.com/news/busines ... 22669.html

It's a huge space.
Re: OFFICIAL - 21c Museum Hotel KC (former Savoy Hotel)
Don't think I would like dining under magenta lighting. Wonder if you can be served in what is now the cocktail lounge?
Re: OFFICIAL - 21c Museum Hotel KC (former Savoy Hotel)
Correct. I toured the space a few weeks back and that is what I noticed.Highlander wrote:Wow. That look is about 180 degrees from the way I expected them to go with the dining room. If you toured the space before the renovation, this should be no surprise. The historic elements in the upper floors were mostly removed.

One of the cooler historic preservation efforts was the fact they were able to retain almost all of the original sinks in the hotel room bathrooms.DaveKCMO wrote:If you toured the space before the renovation, this should be no surprise. The historic elements in the upper floors were mostly removed.

Love the "Rules of the Bar" at the end of the Bar menu.
