someone reported some newer permits reference apartments, in addition to "transient" hotel rooms.

Is this still happening? There's an article in the NYT about this chain and it doesn't mention KC.

Site is very active, so take that for what it's worth.

Agreed. I walk by there often and it is definitely being worked on.

Sigh, white frames? Black or green frames look really sharp with old red brick.

Don't you think they'll paint them? Or is that not a thing anymore.

^Get the DNA on this before too late, looks like shit, giving the building a cheap warehouse rush rehab look. Unless they are coverings or will be painted...

relax, I doubt that is the finished look. The windows on the front of Atlas lofts were white at first, just like this. They were later wrapped/painted/whatever and are now black (and look great). 21C hotels are top notch, and especially if they got historic tax credits I'm sure this is not the finished look.

Agreed--21c is not known for cutting corners. Whatever they're doing it is reasonable to assume it will look great upon completion.

Earlier this week I noticed they had one window installed on the 9th Street side that looked like it was the final product. It was flush with the opening and was had a dark green or black frames. Looked vastly different, and much better.

This may be one of the most important rehab and restoration projects ever DT. We just do not have many large buildings from the 19th century that were not demolished. If only the old Board of Trade a block away was still standing(after more than half a century still a surface lot).. Its death really launched the historic preservation movement in KC. I hope they retain the Savoy name for both the hotel and restaurant so they can still claim a restaurant over a century old.
