85% of 21C has been sold. The creators will continue to be involved in curating and other activities.

AccorHotels, a French hotel chain, bought the stake in 21c Museum.

So Drake has been occupying the new penthouse suite for at least part of his time in KC. Two tour busses and a fleet of SUVs at the ready outside the past few nights.

I've heard the same rumors about him staying at the Fontaine, along with fan videos of him at both Cap Grille and Monarch Room. Whatever the case, glad he's been making it out and spending some money.

Had dinner at the bar at 21C Savoy Friday - great experience. There was a nice crowd; the hotel and restaurant were surprisingly lively - a good sign.

Wife and I split a caesar salad, mussels, steak frites and a couple bacon-wrapped cherry peppers. All quite good, especially the peppers (bar apps are sold individually - $2 peppers, chicken wings, etc.). Washed down with a Negroni and pony sized Miller High Life (also $2).

The old dining room still looks great, very pleased they left it mostly intact. It is a little jarring that so many tables were removed and replaced with "lounge" style areas, but to my surprise those spots were well used, lending the room more of a cocktail lounge vibe that I enjoyed. A massive silver dream catcher hangs on the south wall. Sadly, the old leather bar was removed, and they added TVs behind the bar, though to their immense credit they were not on. Hoping it stays that way.

The neon lit walkway from the front door into 21C lobby is neat, chandelier and gallery etc. were very well done. Truly felt like an art museum inside a hotel, rather than a tacked on gallery; impressive.

Wife came away from the shop with a new wallet and blue ceramic penguin. Overall a great experience, despite a relatively small menu and a very different vibe than the "old" Savoy. Highly recommended and a great addition downtown.

It's not a terminal so that's a sign he clearly had no clue what the name was. Luckily the piece as a whole was so well focused that it didn't really matter.

Bar director Dominic Petrucci’s cocktail list consists of five “heritage” cocktails that are then mirrored in exciting new ways on the “vogue” side of the menu: A classic Bee’s Knee’s becomes an intriguing Cat’s Kimono with gin, shiso, broiled lemon and turmeric. The tailored wine list features sparkling, red, white, rosé and orange selections, plus an apéritif list to start and some fortified wines to finish.

A creative beer list, nonalcoholic Tea-Biotics kombuchas, Thou Mayest coffee and Hugo Teas round out the offerings. Chef Joe West delivers a small yet memorable bar menu, including steamed mussels, a dry-aged double steak burger and steak frites.

Had a bad dinner the other evening in the Savoy. Started with the bread. I thought the butter was very salty, but it was like a cup of salt was poured into the bread dough. The salad and entree was ok. Then there were the potato wedges. Again so salty my throat nearly constricted along with a weird flavor we could not place sorta like grapefruit. The old Savoy even in its long downward slide was better than this.

So a group of 14 of us had a three-hour dinner at the Savoy last night. Except for some personal preference issues with certain dishes, we all had pretty much excellent service and food. The bread and butter were really good and thought it was interesting they brought it after the meal was served. The lobster chowder is amazing. Lots of us commented and enjoyed the shrimp scampi and escargot. The chicken liver mouse was too rich for most of us. For the main courses, a lot of people had the catch of the day which was salmon and everyone raved on that. The double lamb was good but the braised portion was a bit on the dry side but tender. The burger was great and the person added a fried egg. The one person with pasta said his was lovely and there were no complaints about the remainder of the mains. We also split up the glazed carrots, steak fries, brussell sprouts, and chilled beets and they were all excellent. We all shared chocolate pot de creme, creme brulee, pumpkin cake, and profiteroles and they were all perfect. So, fortunately, we had a very pleasant experience and hope to go back soon.

It makes me sad the the stained glass windows taken out of the Savoy are being sold off piece-by-piece on Craigslist.
Own a piece of Kansas City history out of the Historical Savoy Hotel and Grill in downtown Kansas City, Mo. We have a few smaller sizes available. We have resized some of the larger sections for customers that have purchased them to install into their home and business Price is $125 per square foot.Call or text for more info.
