Hell, I'm happy with anything at this point. Can't believe a prime location like this has just been stagnant for 2.5 years.

Especially considering that Zaina was previously doing a hopping business in the space.

I mean picklemans has held it since zaina closed.... I'm sure others would have taken it by now.

Oh yeah, I mean Pickleman's is fine. But that's about the most I can endorse it.

Just a rumor I overheard today:
The 718 Grand lot and/or the small building around the corner on 8th Street which was also recently demoed is to be a location for "more apartments".
This was told to an employee (business owner, I think) of Buffalo Mane across the street by "the construction workers" tearing the building down.
Not sure if contractors tearing a building down would have knowledge of future development plans unless they were also responsible for the new construction.

Anyway, I checked parcel viewer. Those two lots and the entire block on the east side of Grand (except for Anthony's) are all owned by the same address in Lincoln, NE. Appears to be U.S. Property - https://www.usproperty.biz
The two parking lots that flank the now demolished building on 8th are owned by Lotus Hospitality which is developer Mark Patel who did the Gumbel and Interstate hotel renovations (continuing with the Palace Clothing Co. Bldg. next)

Those parcels would have been needed for the Wellington Place towers project that never panned out. That plan included two towers on each side of Grand that were connected by a sky-bridge I believe. I don't know if the current owner was the party that proposed that back in 2006, or the parcels were sold to someone else later.

After doing some searching, I don't think the current owners were part of that plan though.

Does US have any new build experience?

It seems their experience is mostly historic building renovations. However, they appear to have done several, so they have experience managing projects. New build might be their next step in real estate.

Those 2 buildings are a great loss. From my post a few months ago, that shitbag deserves to hear your thoughts...

He is from Nebraska and wants to use real estate to enlarge the kingdom of God. I suppose he thinks God lives in Nebraska and not Kansas City, which is curious because I once watched a guy who looked like Jesus come out of 718 Grand and take a shit on the north side of that building. Besides Buffalo Hide or whatever they call it, he is letting the other buildings deteriorate beyond repair. The Sanderson's building has been open and neglected since the day he bought it and even Helen Keller could see that tons of people have been living rent free in these buildings, in unsafe conditions. I know people have offered to help him redevelop them. Both are a great loss.
if you'd like to give him what for:

I'd like to know what you found out. I may know more of the back story than you do and I've got a nasty email I haven't sent, yet. What he has done, under the guise of self-righteousness, pisses me off.
