It seems like more restaurants are moving to Tock, i think its lower cost but I really love open table and its reward program. I've probably gotten $300 bucks in open table gift cards with the points program they offer.

I forgot to add that I had a very terrific steak at the new Golden Ox on their official opening night. That said, I've not been to many other places in contention for best steak in KC (other than my own home). Steak is generally not something I set out to order, but I would definitely go back to the Golden Ox for another one. From what I can tell (since steak restaurants can be expensive), the prices are very reasonable for this type of a restaurant.

West Bottoms Flats Starting Soon, First Major Renovation Project in Historic Warehouse District
Construction is expected to begin soon on the $68 million West Bottoms Flats apartment development, the first major renovation project in the downtown warehouse district that fueled Kansas City’s economic growth in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries.
MCM Company plans to renovate three historic buildings on the north side of the West Bottoms: the Abernathy, 1501 W. Ninth St.; the Liberty, 912 Liberty, and the Wyoming, 925 Wyoming, into 265 market-rate apartments.
The Bemis building at 937 Wyoming will become a 201-space garage.

This is a great project! Car elevator?!!
Historic tax credits are absolutely essential. The Fed and State govs need to pull their heads out of their a** and keep those in place and expand. Lots of historic warehouses left in the WB waiting to have a new life.

I was driving around the West Bottoms over lunch on Thursday and happened upon a renovation project currently underway that I'd never seen publicized. At 1225 Union is a project called the Murdock Lofts. Looks like it is being marketed as 16 1br/1ba apts or as office space/retail. I'm assuming the 1st floor retail would stay regardless as its looks like the floor plan has 4 units per floor of apartments.

I've always wondered if companies didn't locate, or build downtown, because of the smell. Our downtown might have been a lot bigger had the stockyards and meat plants been east of the city instead of west of downtown.

Notably, this is the first time a municipal water federal consent decree has allowed the use of green infrastructure, according to Andy Shively, a special assistant to the City Manager Troy Schulte, who works on issues relating to the consent decree. And the developer-driven West Bottoms Flats mixed-use residential complex designed by Kansas City-based BNIM is shaping up to be an influential test case for ways the private sector can grapple with public sector failure toward water quality goals.
Landscape architects at BNIM have designed the flats’ green infrastructure capacity to absorb excess stormwater as a series of placemaking amenities “in order to prevent it from being [value-engineered] from the project,” says Cheryl Lough, the director of BNIM’s landscape architecture studio.
