KC Rag: Celebrating 10 years of ragging.
Do you realize that this forum is now over 10 years old? A few things that have changed in KC since 2003:
1. The Kansas City Wizards played in an outdated Arrowhead Stadium:
2. The 2003 rendering of the Power & Light District:
3. The original rendering of the Sprint Center:
4. 2nd rendering of the Sprint Center:
5. Kauffman Stadium:
6. Downtown in 2003:
7. H&R Block construction:
8. Big 12 Championship at Arrowhead in 2003:
9. The Max came on board:
10. Ross Dress for Less finally came to KC:

What's the big deal about Ross? I often see it mentioned on the board, but am clueless as to it's popularity. Dirt cheap dress clothes?

It's a running joke. Nobody cares about it besides mgsports, who covets it as if it were Trader Joe's.Joe Smith wrote:What's the big deal about Ross? I often see it mentioned on the board, but am clueless as to it's popularity. Dirt cheap dress clothes?

Not really. Ross is a great place to cruise for chicks, as the ones who frequent that store will undress for less.kcmetro wrote:It's a running joke. If you want all natural chicks, head to Trader Joe's.

What was the first Topic on the RAG? I wasn't around then. I also missed the downtown stadium debate.

That's a good question. I don't know. I came along shortly after the site came into existence as the KCSkyscrapers forum. KCP might remember.

I think the first post we me e-bitching about something and KCP telling me to chill out. This went on for a while till another member joined.mean wrote:That's a good question. I don't know. I came along shortly after the site came into existence as the KCSkyscrapers forum. KCP might remember.
But seriously, Ross Dress for Less came in 2003? I thought that milestone was like in 2010 or later!

Not everything I posted actually happened in 2003. I was just pointing out some of the most exciting changes since 2003.
Of course, this forum actually strated in late 2002.

It was about whether or not Kansas City should built paved roads for this new-fangled invention - the automobile. It descended into a flame war over whether the Negro League's Kansas City Monarchs could defeat a white ballclub like the Kansas City Blues. Some also made disparaging posts about Tom Pendergast and there were some non-sequitor posts about a "Ross's Fine Ladies Hosiery For Less."KCKev wrote:What was the first Topic on the RAG? Who could forget that epic thread about naming the Town of Kansas: West Port, Port Fonda, Rabbitville or Possum Trot? I think that thread ultimately got locked because of all the trolling from the Rabbitville people.

So what was the most epic flame war in the last ten years?
Michael vs. Everyone Else
Pro-TSC renovation crowd vs. Save Our Owners
Chef vs. Maitre D on any topic the two met in
Other candidates?

Remember KCDevin? He was an interesting fellow. Young kid - literally a kid - who wanted to be an architect/planner. I think he was super religious, but believed strongly in authoritarian government telling people what to do. He had some great planning ideas, but was chastized for having a "my way or the highway" mindset. Anyway, he had some pretty big arguments with people.mean wrote:So what was the most epic flame war in the last ten years?

I wonder if he became an architect.

Also - coincidentally - the board passed 500,000 posts sometime last week. Works out to 136 posts per day. That seems kind of high.

Oh yeah, of course I do. I liked the kid, but you're right--he had some seriously twisted ideas. I always wondered if the strict religious authoritarianism had anything to do with why he didn't understand why the government couldn't make people do things. Anyway, I think he was like 15 or something when he started posting here, and continued to do so up until he had bahua delete his account sometime around the time he was supposed to graduate.KCMax wrote:Remember KCDevin? I, too, wonder what happened to him.

Re: KC Rag: Celebrating 10 years of ragging.
I remember I had a few dumb posts when I started on here. I registered when I was 14 (I am 23 now). I rarely post on here anymore but regularly check the site still. Hopefully development news can pick up again soon. I stopped coming here as much since it was mainly sports fighting at one point.
I have only met one person on this site and that was AllThingsKC back in July of 2007 according to PM's lol.
