I like the theme, but it is just way too narrow.  And I'm using an old monitor. I can only imagine it on the widescreen laptop.

My main issue is that textual links are the same color as body text now. Thus, I cannot tell what text is a link and what text is well, just text. It would be nice if it was like the old one where text links were a different color than body text.

Also, the narrow column is really hard to read on a larger widescreen monitor. Not that I own one of those...but my office does.  8)

As far as width, I think it's fine at resolutions of 1280 and even 1920, personally. It may just take some getting used to. For the record, when I started editing the CSS, I didn't really like it at first, either. I tried several other ideas but kept coming back to this, and now I rather like it.

For those who want to collapse the header but don't want to miss out on having the "show unread posts" button (which describes me, at least) I made the date under the header image a link to show unread posts.

I can see this being an issue for others as well, I'll see what I can do.

I think we need to run ads in the margins. And only for the guy with the ads that read ONE MOMENT OF YOUR TIME PLEASE!

I changed some stuff around. Let me know if that's any better. Trying not to get too far off grayscale, but I did make a.visited slightly blue.

I find the words in light gray to be hard to read - not enough contrast.

Agreed. I don't want to bitch too much because I am just really glad that this forum exists. However, to bitch slightly, I find that there is just too much white overall. It is harsh on the eyes. The monochromatic scheme just doesn't do it for me. But hey, I'm just happy to be here, at least we aren't on a BBS.

I do think it looks good, but the 748px fixed width is annoying.  Making hyperlinks indistinguishable from non-linked text is a big usability problem.  I'll switch back to the default them if the latter doesn't change.

Theme is nice.
Besides the usual widening and possibly moving to the left a bit request, I'd say get a darker tone instead of white for the background; it is a bit on the painful side right now.

I dig that idea....how about on the whitespace old fake or real newspaper ads for hair tonic or the like?  Maybe Mulebach beer?

I'm not sure how much work it would be, but maybe you can get a "narrow" and "wide" design that users could choose from.  I can dig what you want and it might look decent once you finish - but I personally am not liking the narrowness at the moment.

Definitely second doing something about the whiteness.  Tis quite bright on the eyes.

I practically have to put my nose against the screen to read the type in the quotes.  Please - make all the type darker.

Love the bus photo.

I think the grey background helps to neutralize the wide margins.

Why are some subjects darker than others?  Also, please make the quotes darker.  Between the light gray and small type, I can't read them.

Visited links are a lighter color than unvisited links. Quoted text should be in black, not light gray. If there's any way to take a screenshot of what you're experiencing, I'd appreciate it. In the meantime, I made the text size a little larger. Does that help at all?
