100% serious question.

Re: why is there a sports section?
For 3 reasons:
1. The Sports part of the form is the second most popular board (behind General Kansas City).
2. Of the Top 10 threads, 5 or 6 of them are from the Sports board.
3. Because of a lack of development (except for Columbia, DeVry, and so on), there's not much else in KC to talk about.

KC is the way to be!

sports reporting is easy. games happen on a schedule, you talk to the dumb coach and get the same recycled quote, then you print the scores, and readers lap it up (boosting ad revenue). voila!
if there was a better explanation, newspapers would have always included sports coverage.

Re: why is there a sports section?
I just figured there was a sports page because it gives forumers to talk about during the periods of time, some protracted, where nothing is going on in KC in the development scene. Plus, sports are at times inextricably tied to development in tangible and not so tangible ways.

Exactly, when the recession hit and Funkhouser got elected, the only things we've had to discuss are sports, bars and pumpkinstalker's remodel.

Fresh content keeps people coming back on a regular basis - thus keeping people interested in this forum. It may not relate directly to much of the development talks, but the sports talk is the day-to-day lifeblood that makes this place worth visiting on a daily (rather than weekly/monthly) basis. So, when shit does go down on the development side, the full cast of characters is here to participate.

For some reason which I can not pinpoint, this image sums up KC for me. A picture is truly worth 1,000 words.Joe Smith wrote:
