Re: First post
We start with:
"With sun and ski closing on the Plaza, some have suggested something like Niketown and Gameworks come in...."
And 5 years, 11400 topics, and 270,000 posts later, we end up with:
"QuickTrip to open in Sprint Center".
Impressive, yet anticlimactic.
BTW, my first post was some lame joke about the Nelson expansion.

Re: First post
Before the forum had its own domain it was on one of those sites where basically anybody can create and run a message board. Does that board still exist somewhere? Anybody? KCpowercat?
I never really participated, but I distinctly remember KC (now KCpowercat), GRID (then KCgridlock) and ShowMeKC (Guyed Guy, KCDevin) being at least 3 of the very first participants and biggest contributers. They all branched off from skyscraperpage.com when KCpowercat started the forum.
Anybody else been around since the beginning?
BTW, one forumer I haven't seen around in a long time is tat2kc. Surely there are others too.
I've learned quite a bit while reading this forum and the Skyscraper Page forum. I've always liked downtown, the older and more urban areas of town, The Metro and the pedestrian experience, and after reading these forums it all came together.
I only recently realized my interest in this type of stuff is rooted in the fact I spent just about every weekend at my grandma's in downtown KCK since I was a toddler. She is a pedestrian and never has driven. We would walk to the grocery store, bank, Osco, and various restaurants.
When I was old enough and after Indian Springs was dying off I got my grandma into the routine of going to Crown Center, Ward Parkway, Blue Ridge and the Plaza to see movies, eat, go to Topsy's, get ice cream, shop, etc. We would ride the bus everywhere and spent a lot of time at 10th and Main. She would also take me to the KCK Fire HQ, city hall, etc. where I got to play in the fire truck, go down the pole, and see the KCMO skyline. Made my own notebook of Metro routes blanketing KCK.... And I guess the rest is history.
My name is Brian and "Stockton" really doesn't have any significance, I used to be "KCforumer", and I'm 21. That's my story!
Stockton~
Edit: I just realized this was suppose to be about our first posts. I was thinking "5 year anniversary." I'll leave this post as it is though.

First one that I could find on this board. It would be something to see the other boards that this one branched off of.
